Community Volunteer Network Update: Holiday volunteering, Leadership Positions, and Final CVN events of 2010

CVN Chair's Report The holiday season is in full gear and it's a great time to give back to the community.  Whether you want to show off your gift-wrapping skills, prepare and serve food, or sing carols, there are tons of local opportunities to help you get in the holiday spirit.  To find out more about upcoming events, click here and read our post from The CVN Forum below. Also, if you're looking to get more involved in the coming year, I encourage you to apply for a position on our Leadership Team or one of our committees.  There are still a few open positions and we'd love to have more people involved.  If you're interested, please submit an application no later than Friday, December 17th.   As always, thank you for volunteering with CVN!  I wish all of you a joyous holiday season and a great start to the New Year. Annual Wreath Laying Ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery - Saturday, December 11, 8:15 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. l CVN will join thousands of other volunteers in this annual tradition of laying almost 20,000 wreaths on the graves at Arlington National Cemetery. Find out more, RSVP: Wreath Sign Up December Monthly Meetup - Tuesday, December 14, 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. | Join CVN at Sushi Rock, near Courthouse Metro, to learn more about our upcoming events and meet fellow volunteers.  We will be collecting children's toys and wrapping paper for our OAR Project Christmas Angel event later this month.  We will also hear from AHC, Inc. about volunteer opportunities in Arlington.  Find out more and RSVP on Facebook: RSVP on Facebook A-SPAN Help the Homeless Holiday Gala - Thursday, December 16, 5:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. l CVN will be helping with event logistics at this fundraiser for A-SPAN, being held for the first time at the Artisphere in Rosslyn. Find out more, RSVP:A-SPAN Gala Sign Up Project Christmas Angel with Offender Aid and Restoration (OAR) - Friday, December 17, 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. |  We will help OAR with Project Christmas Angel, an annual project that allows the children of incarcerated parents to receive a gift from their parents during the holidays.
