April Meet-Up, Events & More

Message From the Chair
I'd like to thank everyone who helped make Family Ice Skate Night with Therapeutic Recreation last week one of our best events! Both the participants and our volunteers had a great time.  After the event, I received a lot of positive feedback for CVN as the staff greatly appreciated the help provided by our volunteers.  Check out the photos of this event and the stream clean-up earlier this month on the CVN Flickr page. And we have a new volunteer event tomorrow: Easter Egg Hunt Volunteers.  This event was a lot of fun last year, so I hope you'll consider joining us!

Also, Arlington County is hosting a Volunteer Appreciation Celebration on Sunday, April 21st from 3-5PM at NRECA Conference Center, 4301 Wilson Blvd. This Celebration is to thank volunteers for their hard work and that includes you!
Even if you have only attended one CVN volunteer event, I highly encourage you to attend as it will be a great opportunity to hang out with other CVNers and learn about all the different ways that volunteers are involved in the County.   Please RSVP by April 14 (indicate 'CVN' in your rsvp) and look for me when you arrive: http://tinyurl.com/celebration2013rsvp.

March Meet-Up, Events & More

Message From the Chair
After a slow start to the year, winter is almost over and we have a number of new volunteer opportunities coming up!  The stream cleanup and gardening events are great ways to get outside, have fun and help out the community.

The meet-up at Buzz Bakery on Tuesday, March 12th is also a great way to learn more about CVN and meet other active volunteers (in addition to sampling some amazing sweet treats!).  For those of you who are new to CVN or haven't attended a meet-up for a while, I highly encourage you to come out.

Spring into service in March!

Hey CVNers! Get ready to spring into service starting in March! Warm weather is just around the corner. One thing great about warmer weather? CVN's gardening and outdoor events starting back up. Check out some great events coming up and more on the calendar.

If you haven't already, be sure to bookmark the CVN Forum. You'll only be a click away from checking out our latest event photos on Flikr, our blog posts and, most importantly, the event calendar!

Join our Facebook group!!! By doing so, you’ll know as soon as new events are posted to the calendar.

Finally, have you had an idea for community service but weren't sure how to make it happen? Do you know a group here in Arlington that is looking for volunteers? Send anyone on the leadership team an email with your idea and we'll tell you how you can lead the event, from start to finish (don't worry, we'll show you to how to lead an event - it's easy!)

February Meet-Up, Events & More

Message From the Chair
Looking for something new and fun to do this weekend?  Join us for an upcoming CVN event: Feel the Heritage Festival or the Red and Black Ball or both! The Red and Black Ball will be a great event (see the blog post below), so I encourage you to sign up.   If you'd like to see more volunteer events, CVN could still use your help.  If there is a particular event or organization that you'd like to try out, please let me know.

I hope you can make it to our monthly meetup at Stray Cat Cafe! Together with the Lost Dog Cafe, the Stray Cat Cafe helps support the Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation which rescues and places over a thousand abandoned dogs and cats each year. All of the cats featured in framed photographs on the wall are rescued cats and some are still available for adoption.
