Community Volunteer Network: Upcoming Events, Leader Training

CVN Chair's Report

Though 2011 has just started, CVN has had a busy few weeks. We started the New Year by volunteering at A-SPAN's homeless shelter and, after a bit of transition in the Leadership Team, our calendar is quickly filling up. I'd like to extend a huge welcome to Kim Lamon-Loperfido, our new Social Chair, and to thank Meredith Meade, who continues to serve as Recurring Volunteering Chair. Together, we look forward to working with all of you to plan and implement a great assortment of fun and rewarding volunteer and social events.

I'd also like to thank our out-going leadership team members: Jourdan Clandening (Communications Chair), Kelly Corbally (Social Chair), and Kellen MacBeth (Monthly Volunteering Chair). I couldn't have asked for a better group to work with!

Finally, a huge thank you to Sharon Tewksbury-Bloom, our County Liaison, who is leaving us this month. Sharon's dedication to CVN has been above and beyond anything we could expected. She's patient, kind, and an exceptional leader and facilitator. Best of luck with your new adventures, Sharon!

If you're looking to join in the fun as a leader of CVN or if you have ideas for future events, please come to our Volunteer Leader Training or send me a message. I'd love to hear from you!

Tiffany

  • Point in Time Homeless Count with A-SPAN - Wednesday, January 26 - Every year there is a nationwide count which helps programs working with people who are homeless to recognize the need and get necessary resources. A-SPAN will be having several activities going on between 1:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. at several different locations around Arlington. CVN is planning to coordinate a group for at least one evening time slot, probably helping at the A-SPAN shelter, but we want to get an idea of how many people are interested. Please email cvn.admin@gmail.com if you are interested in volunteering and specify if your ability to help is dependent on the time or exact location.

  • Volunteer Leader Training - Thursday, February 17 - If you're interested in learning more about CVN, taking on new leadership opportunities, or finding out more about our plans for the year, we encourage you to attend our Volunteer Leader Training this spring.
