CVN Chair's Report I hope all CVNers had a great summer. The weather worked against us in August and between the heat and the rain we had to cancel a few events. Don't worry, because we are back in September with some great opportunities. You should have received an email about the CVN bi-annual survey recently. Upcoming CVN Events
9/11 Memorial 5k - Saturday, September 10th 4:00-8:00pm | Come out to support the Arlington Police, Fire, and Sheriff 10th Annual 9-11 Memorial 5K Run.  CVN volunteers will be partnering with Arlington's Volunteer Emergency Support Team (VEST) in support of this memorial event. RSVP here.  Gardening at Tuckahoe Elementary - Sunday, September 11th 2:00-6:00pm | Join CVN at a gardening/landscaping session for this Super Session. Please join for any portion of this time that you can give. We will be heading to the Westover Bier Garden after the event. RSVP here. September Monthly Meetup @ Rustico (Ballston) - Tuesday, September 13th 7:00-9:00pm | Join CVN at Rustico to learn more about our upcoming events and meet fellow volunteers. Find out more, RSVP here. Gleaning with AFAC - Saturday, September 17th 9:00am-12:00pm | We'll be traveling to Miller Farm in Clinton, MD to glean vegetables from the fields and provide fresh produce to AFAC's clients. RSVP here. Schoolyard Garden at ATS - Sunday, September 18th 12:00-4:00pm | Lend a hand with the monthly crew of CVN volunteers helping out in the garden at Arlington Traditional School. Newcomers and regulars are welcome to join us for landscaping projects large and small. This crew is continuing to transform the ATS garden into a fun space for kids to learn outdoors. RSVP here. Pet Adoption with Lost Dog and Cat Rescue - Saturday, October 8th 12:00-3:00pm | Join CVN as we volunteer with the Lost Dog and Cat Rescue. Volunteers will walk dogs around the Seven Corners PetSmart to promote their adoption. RSVP here. Arlington's 100 Homes Campaign - Monday, October 17th - Wednesday, October 19th 3:30-7:00am | CVN will be participating as surveyors in this County-wide effort to move the most vulnerable homeless people in Arlington off the streets and into housing. All volunteers must participate for all three days and attend a mandatory training on Sunday, Oct. 16 from 1-4 p.m. RSVP here.
