November Update: Our BIG Event & More!

CVN Chair's Report Fall is here, the air is crisp and that can only mean one thing. It's time for the Community Residences Fall Clean-up! This is CVN's biggest event of the year. It is a great opportunity for you to bring you friends, siblings, co-workers etc... rake some leaves and spread some mulch. The sign-up is below and we hope to see you there!   This time of year also means that CVN is looking for new leaders. As some members of our current leadership team transition off, we will be looking for enthuastic volunteers to fill the roles. If you are interested or are kind of interested, maybe, not quite sure... please reach out to one of current leadership team members to find out more. This month's meet-up at Spider Kelly's will be a great opportunity to talk to us or you can always email us. Race Against the Odds - Saturday, November 5th, 8:30-10:00am | The National Race Against the Odds is the leading fundraising and awareness event for the Washington, DC Metro Area Chapter of The Cure Starts Now. CVN volunteers will be helping with race logistics and most likely serve as course marshalls along the race route. For more information about Race Against the Odds go to www.raceagainsttheodds.com. Find out more, RSVP: here Community Residences Clean-up - Saturday November 12th, 10:00am-2:00pm | Join us for CVN's biggest event of the year doing outdoor clean-up for Community Residences (CR). CR operates many homes in Northern Virgina for individuals with disabilities. Every year, dozens of CVN volunteers split up and go to several of the homes to rake leaves and perform other yard work. CVN Event Leaders' Group Part of CVN's mission is to create a positive difference in Arlington by developing leaders. To help promote leadership and provide more access to leadership opportunities we have created a new group to match leaders with volunteer events. Anyone interested in leading events can join. Joining the group doesn't commit you to leading an event. The goal is to expose people to opportunities and hopefully match volunteer leaders with an event, organization or activity that they are interested in. CVN's past experiences have found that a key factor in a successful volunteer event is a leader who is passionate about the activity. CVN will use the group to send out information about potential volunteer events. We will post all the information we have on the event, such as a description of the event, information about the group we would be volunteering with, location, and date and time or potential dates if it is a flexible opportunity. If you are interested in leading an event just reply that you are interested and we will put you in touch with the contact for the group that we will volunteer with. Don't worry if you have never led an event before, we will work with you to get all the information and tools you need to run a successful volunteer event!
