Help Needed For October CVN Events

Message From the Chair
CVN has had a successful last couple of weeks: CVN was interviewed on camera by Arlington County at  Fall Garden Day at Claremont Elementary School.  A number of new CVN members attended Growing Native Seed Collection with ACE.

This coming Sunday is the final garden event at the Arlington Traditional School for 2012, so I hope some of you members can check it out!  There are still a few more spots left for the Vegetable Gardening with AFAC.  Finally, I hope to see you on November 3rd at Community Residences Clean-up, which is CVN's biggest event of the year!

                                   Upcoming CVN Events                                 

• ATS Schoolyard Garden – Sunday, October 14th, 2:00pm-4:00pm | Join us at Arlington Traditional School. We'll be continuing work to transform this schoolyard habitat into a fun space for kids to learn outdoors. Newcomers and regulars are welcome to join us. Register here.
• Vegetable Gardening with AFAC - Saturday, October 20, 8:30am - 12:30pm | Join other volunteers to help farmers harvest crops for the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC). We'll be traveling to a farm (location TBD) to glean vegetables from the fields and provide fresh produce to AFAC's clients. Bring water to drink, sunhats, gloves and wear sturdy shoes or boots.  Register here.
• Tuckahoe Elementary Garden Day - Sunday, October 21st, 02:00 pm - 04:00 pm | Come help with the upkeep of the Tuckahoe Elementary garden! There will be weeding, basic maintenance, composting and other tasks. No experience required. Register here.
• Family Fun Halloween Event - Saturday, October 27th, 12:45-4:00pm | CVN will be helping the Arlington Parks & Recreation Department with a special family Halloween event featuring games, moon bounce, costumes, and more! We'll be leading games for the kids. Costumes are not required, just a "spirit" of fun! Register here.
• Community Residences Clean-up- Saturday, November 3rd, 10:00 am - 02:00 pm | Join us for CVN's biggest event of the year doing outdoor clean-up for Community Residences (CR). CR operates many homes in Northern Virginia for individuals with disabilities. Every year, dozens of CVN volunteers split up and go to several of the homes to rake leaves and perform other yard work. The event is a lot of fun and will be followed by a social meet-up at a local restaurant/bar. Register here.
